About

From practicing law to building companies.

A graduate of Loyola Law School, Roy Newman started his career as a lawyer, developed as a litigator, and became a partner. Over time he came to see litigation as an inefficient way to solve problems. It usually arrives after the most important decisions have already been made.

He left litigation to help start and grow companies in technology, real estate, entertainment, hospitality, and restaurants. That work showed him what nearly all businesses have in common, and which problems belong to a particular industry. Along the way, he served as head counsel to Enterprise Rent-A-Car, now part of Enterprise Mobility, a company that generates more than $39 billion in annual revenue.

For the past several years, he has put that experience to work counseling business owners and executives. Companies can hire lawyers, accountants, and marketing professionals. What is harder to find is someone who looks at the business from the top down, understands how a decision in one area affects the others, and can hold all of a leader's concerns at once.

Much of the work concerns the business, but it rarely stays there. Over time, most clients come to seek Roy's advice well beyond their companies, on succession and estate planning, investments, and the personal decisions that run alongside a working life.
